Santa Fe: A Little Work & a Little Fun

Salud!

This week I made the trip south, to beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico. I headed down for work but was able to squeeze in a bit of fun and some amazing food. Santa Fe is home to some beautiful churches; the San Miguel Mission– said to be the oldest church in the United States! I was lucky enough to attend mass on Sunday at the picturesque Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. I also found my way to the Loretto Chapel. This chapel houses the ‘Miraculous Staircase’. It’s miraculous because there is no apparent infrastructure to support it, engineers say there is no reason it should still be standing.

Not only are the churches amazing, the galleries in Santa Fe are definitely worth putting on your walking shoes to explore. Plus, all that walking builds up an appetite and you will not be disappointed in the food and drink selection. My food adventures started with lunch at The Draft Station where I enjoyed a local New Mexico beer and delicious pizza with a Santa Fe Twist: ROAST CHICKEN, GREEN CHILE, TOASTED PINON NUTS, COTIJA & ASADERO WITH ALFREDO SAUCE ON BLUE CORN CRUST- I mean YUM!

Dinner was at my all time favorite place, La Boca. Two word- Spanish. Tapas. This is an incredible spot, with a fantastic wine list, great staff and unbelievable food. You must try the authentic paella! It is the best paella I’ve had outside of Spain. On the menu as well was a mushroom bruschetta, grilled artichokes, and goat cheese. Needless to say, I left a very happy lady! This is a great place for date night!

The second day of meals didn’t disappoint. Lunch was at The Burrito Company where I may or may not have consumed a giant sopapilla, in addition to my carnitas tacos! Perfecto! Finally, dinner took place at La Casa Sena. The food was so good I was completely lost and forgot to take a picture of one single thing! The meal consisted of kale salad, oysters, goat cheese egg rolls, and the most amazing butternut squash and kale lasagna.

The three days in Santa Fe were wonderful. The weather was beautiful, the people were extremely welcoming as always, and I left 5lbs heavier! Oh, and if you were wondering all the work stuff went great!
